The Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives
The Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives at the National Museum of art contains over 300,000 photographic images documenting the arts and people of Africa. The collection includes Elisofon's own photographs and transparencies taken between 1947-1974; the works of other photographers has since been added.

Voyages en Afrique
Voyages en Afrique was produced by the BNF and contains photographs and full-text books and journals, and sound recordings. The coverage is predominantly North Africa, but there are some images from south of the Sahara. In French.

Photography collection of the Deutsche Kolonialgesellschaft at the University of Frankfurt am Main
Approximately 55,000 documentary images primarily from Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. In German, with search capabilities also available in English.

The Winterton Collection of East African Photographs: 1860-1960
This collection was acquired by the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies at Northwestern University in 2002. Only 101 samples from this collection of over 7,000 images are presently available online, but an inventory of the full collection (which is currently being digitized) is available on this site.

Internet Mission Photography Archive
Contains images from Protestant and Catholic missionary collections from: Yale University Divinity School Day Missions Library, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), the Norwegian Missionary Society, The Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America, Inc., The Leipzig Mission, and The Moravian Church. Contains images from Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Africa during the 19th and 20th centuries, including postcards.
