Welcome to the Goldwater Library wiki!

The staff of the Goldwater Library has created this wiki to provide researchers with access to important resources on the traditional art and material culture of sub-Saharan Africa, Native and Precolumbian America, and the Islands of the Pacific. It is open to everyone within the Metropolitan Museum of Art and from the larger museum community as well.

Our goal is to identify comprehensive and authoritative references to scholarship that will introduce the researcher to key research tools and stimulate further study in the discipline.

Caveat lector: Some of the electronic resources listed here have restrictions on their access. These are noted wherever restrictions apply. You may be able to use them from terminals within the Museum, remotely via the Internet, or only in the Hazen Center of the Watson Library. Click here for details and instructions on remote access.

While many of the resources cited on this Wiki are available over the Internet, some important books and articles are still available in print only. Print citations include directional links to WATSONLINE and/or Worldcat.

Wikis are dynamic objects: these pages are continuously under construction. We encourage Wiki users to make suggestions — about the wiki in general or on particular resources you find valuable — by using the contact us tab at the top the wiki.
